What Is the Learnership All About?

The AM Security Services Learnership Programme offers unemployed young South Africans, ages 18 to 30, invaluable entry into the private security industry. This initiative—geared especially toward Black, Indian, and Coloured youth—blends classroom education with real on-the-job experience to equip future security officers with the skills needed to excel.

This is not just any training—it’s a structured programme that culminates in an occupational qualification, preparing learners for a career in security through a combination of theory and practical work.

Who Should Apply?

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Unemployed, not currently working
  • Not enrolled in any other educational institution or learnership programme
  • Matric (Grade 12) certificate with English and Level 4 in all subjects
  • South African citizen with a valid SA ID
  • Aged between 18 and 30 years
  • Must not have a criminal record
  • Base-level computer literacy (MS Office, email, internet) is advantageous

For candidates living with disabilities, it’s essential to submit proof of disability—either a doctor’s certificate or an ITRDD13 form signed by a registered medical doctor.
